A few nights ago I was trembling in a corner, hiding, crying, and praying for God’s protection over my family and I through a tornado. My extended family and I gathered in a small hallway seeking protection as we felt like the world was shaking. The wind alone sounded like a scene from a horror movie. Although afraid, the only thing I could think to do in that moment was start praying. The storm was out of my control, and whatever was going to happen was in God’s hands.
This storm reminded me of one of my favorite quotes, “Keep your eyes on Jesus, not the storm”. In that moment, I leaned on God to save us from the swirling storm just outside the door.
That experience left me speechless. Everyone in the room saw God’s merciful hand at work, taking care of us all.
Isaiah 43:2 states this, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you.” God will always be with us. Sometimes in the stress of life it can feel like we are all alone out wading in the water of life, but He promises to never leave us nor forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:8)!
